CBD against ADHD
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with ADHD after a burnout. Since childhood I have been struggling with overstimulation followed by exhaustion, depression and lack of concentration. The treatment of choice has always been with antidepressants and Ritalin/or Focalin to combat the symptoms of ADHD. The side effects such as fatigue, emotional numbness, weight gain, headaches etc. were sold to me as something I should tolerate, as there were not many choices in this field. For me, this meant a constant struggle between my psychological and physical well-being.
I started taking the CBD in hopes of finding something natural against depression, but as it turned out, it had a very good effect on my ADHD, which in turn was deemed to be the cause of my depression! After taking 2 capsules of CBD I become calmer, more concentrated and less distracted. It’s a very subtle result because I don’t feel any side effects and only notice the negative when I don’t take it anymore and I then become more erratic, scattered and jittery. For me this is a huge discovery! I have known for a long time that many ADHD patients like to smoke a joint, now I know why! It is not the THC, it is the cannabidiol which has a positive effect on the brain in ADD/ADHD. The stimuli are somehow absorbed more slowly, which seems to make it quieter. I wish more doctors would know about this or do research to offer their patients alternatives. I will definitely continue to take the CBD, as I only notice positive things, even if I have to pay for it myself (not paid by the medical insurance). The only thing that matters is I feel so much better. Also, I was able to reduce the antidepressants to 3 capsules of 30 mg each without noticing a mental break-in.
I hope that a lot of people will read this blog so that others have the chance to share their experiences of using CBD.
