Acerola
Acerola, often also called acerola cherry, although strictly speaking the healthy stone fruit is not related to sweet cherries, is one of the three best sources of vitamin C in the world! Vitamin C is involved in numerous important tasks in the body. In addition, acerola also has a high antioxidant potential. In the traditional medicine of Latin America, acerola is used in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. 100g of acerola contains between 700-5000mg of vitamin C (as a comparison: lemons only contain about 50mg)! The vitamin C content depends on various factors (e.g. location, degree of ripeness, etc.). The acerola cherry is only available fresh in its native country (South and Central America, India, Africa, Australia), but the valuable ingredients are also contained in high-quality fruit extracts.
